New Fall-Winter Collection
Made-to-measure suits offer the most efficient way to have a beautifully fitted suit made to your own specifications. They are based of pre-existing patterns tailored and fitted to your body measurements. Your tailor will modify these patterns and will take your body shape into account, such as jacket length and shoulder width.
So, are if you are looking to invest in a made to measure suit, here is what you need to know:
The Process
The made to measure suit process begins with a consultation with your tailor – so firstly, it is important to do your research and find a tailor you feel comfortable with. The consultation process is pretty straightforward, although it does entail making a few decisions. It pays to do some research ahead of your visit so you can explain what you would like the suit to look like. Your tailor will also help you by providing advice based around style, and what they believe will best suit your unique figure.
Fabric
Choosing your cloth fabric is the first step. You have to consider what the suit is for. Is it for a formal event? Will you be wearing it through colder or hotter seasons? Or both? This will affect your choice of colour, fabric, and extra details.
Measurements
Your tailor will then take several measurements – chest, arms, inside leg, length, and balance. Then you will try on a suit of your preferred style or construction. This will provide a template for your tailor to work with. They will then start to pin it to shape a suit that fits you better, one that flatters your unique figure.
The Details
The final part of the consultation process is where you choose all the extra details that will make the suit right for you. Options to consider range from lapel style, buttons, belt loops, cuffs or plain finish, the type of pockets, and so on. Once these are all decided on, your part of the process is basically complete, and your tailor will start the suit making process. However, you will be asked in for another fitting for final adjustments – once this is done, your tailor will finalise the suit, and you will be able to take it home.
So, are made to measure suits worth it?
